Now I am working on CuF2 as lithium-ion battery cathode material. The reason why some metal fluorides, also like iron fluoride, bismuth fluoride and tin fluoride etc, arouse people's interest is that this type of materials involve a complete reduction during discharge based on conversion mechanism, which result in a really high capacity. Combined with a relative high theoretical voltage(vs. lithium), CuF2 lithium-ion battery showes a very high energy density. Specifically, the aim of my project is to obtain a deeper thought of the mechanism of CuF2 system using solid-state NMR and XRD etc.
